With the rise in electronic reading devices such as those available on tablet pcs, there has been a surge in the popularity of eBooks. Google is set to take advantage of this growth by launching it’s long awaiting eBook store in Australia.
Google will partner with local online book retailers Dymocks and Booktopia to provide their millions of free eBooks and hundres of thousands of paid eBooks to Australians. Booktopia and Dymocks will act as wholesalers of Google’s eBooks and will receive a cut of sales.
Australia is only the fourth territory for Google to launch their books with the USA, UK and Canada launching recently.
The eBooks provided by Google will be in either a PDF or a ePub format. These two formats are the most common format of eBooks and will ensure that it is compatible on as many devices as possible.
